User Reviews about Down-On-Top Featherbed - Queen
For the past several years I have been regularly sleeping on the ground. Not bare, but rather on foam mattress toppers (eggshell style). It was comfortable and low profile (no big bed dominating my room) and worked well, so I never went back to a big bed and I like it that way.
Anyway, I moved and got a Sleep Studio ViscO2 Ventilated 2-Inch Thick Memory Foam Mattress Enhancer, Twin, which I didn't really like because it "bottomed out"; not enough density in the padding for floor-sleeping. So I saw this feather bed at Costco on the cheap and picked it up on impulse, and put it on top of the other pad.
Now this is more like it! The loft on this is 3"-4", which brings me to about 5" loft in the bedroom, and it's still easy to walk over.
As far as comfort goes, this is pretty nice. On the bottom it has their "euro-style" full-length baffling with full feathers, and on the top "baffle box" filled with down. So downy squares on top, and feathery lines on bottom. This gives a nice combo of customizable bulk on bottom (their euro style allows you to move feathers around across the length of the bed) and consistent down on top.
It accepts a fitted sheet just fine, as well. -- Nice bed!
This down topped feather bed is so wonderful. I was having trouble sleeping on a new very firm mattress. Laying this feather bed on top of my existing mattress made all the difference! I am sleeping SO much better. It seems to me this bed helps with my circulation, especially when sleeping on my side. This bed cuddles you up and creates a veritable cloud of fluffiness under and around you. My firm mattress underneath this product provides a lot of support. The feathers and are spread evenly in the thick quilted mattress. The top layer is really soft tiny down so the feathers below don't poke at you. But those bigger feathers do keep things fluffy and thick. This mattress stays put on the bed and doesn't slide around. Works with my normal fitted sheets. The packaging recommended a mattress cover to protect it, which is a good idea. I think this product is high quality and worth the price I paid ($139). -- Getting down with it
Never had one before this one and I did some research. This one is doing a great job of keeping me comfy at night after a few months. No feathers leaking out or any other problems. -- Great featherbed
I had my last featherbed for 6 years and I loved it, but when I went to get it cleaned, I get it done every three months, the cleaner told me that they should be replaced at least...at least every 2 years; dust mites get into the mattress, there is no way to avoid it. So I finally look at several and this one looked to be the best. Not only is it stuffed full of feathers it also has a quilt on top of it for better comfort and support. I have to say I slept wonderful. My other featherbed gave me comfort like this in the begining but I had forgotten how good it felt and now I remember. In two years time I will be buying another of the same. Something about the quilted layer it gives a wonderful feeling of added softness. Great buy for the money and well worth it in the long run. -- Wonderful
